That’s the goal, and we put our heart into every item we package and send. But we’re also human. Honest mistakes can happen, and if they do, we want the chance to make it right.
Your trust means everything to us, and we want you to feel confident and comfortable shopping with us, every time.
How to Start a Return or Exchange
To begin a return or exchange, email us at customersupport@40dayliving.com within 14 days of delivery. Please include:
- Your full name
- Order number
- Reason for the return
All further communication will continue via email until your request is resolved. We do our best to respond promptly and make the process smooth and respectful.
Eligibility for Returns & Exchanges
We accept returns and/or exchanges on eligible products within 14 days of delivery, no exceptions. Items returned after this window may not be eligible for refund, but partial store credit may be offered at our discretion.
Items eligible for return or exchange:
- Unused products in original, unopened packaging
- Books in new condition (no writing, highlighting, or bent covers)
Items not eligible for return or exchange:
- Live plants (due to their sensitive, perishable nature)
- Digital downloads
- Perishable goods
- Personal care items
- Clearance or final sale items
- Customized or personalized items
How Exchanges Work
To keep the process simple and efficient, we do not process direct product swaps. Instead:
- Return the original item (if it meets the eligibility criteria)
- Once we receive it, we’ll issue either a refund to your original payment method or a store credit
- You are then free to place a new order for the item you prefer
This allows you to receive your new product as quickly as possible without waiting on an internal exchange approval loop. It also helps us maintain inventory accuracy and service quality.
Refunds & Credits
You may choose either:
- A full refund (if returning your complete order), or
- A partial refund (if only part of the order was unsatisfactory or you missed the 14-day window)
Refunds are issued to your original payment method within 5–7 business days after we receive the returned item. If you prefer store credit, we’ll issue that within 48 hours of receiving the return.
Shipping fees are non-refundable, and return shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility, unless the item was damaged or defective upon arrival.
Damaged or Defective Items
If your item arrived damaged or defective, please notify us within 14 days of delivery. We will:
- Offer you a replacement (shipped at our expense)
- Ask that you return the original item to us before the replacement is mailed

We strongly recommend using a trackable shipping service and purchasing shipping insurance. We are not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit.

In accordance with Maryland consumer protection laws, your rights as a buyer are safeguarded under the Maryland Consumer Protection Act and applicable e-commerce laws. These include:
- The right to receive products that are as described and function as intended
- The right to a good-faith refund policy for eligible products
- The right to be informed about non-returnable items prior to purchase
- The right to clear and timely communication regarding returns and refunds

Limitation of Liability & Fraud Prevention
To protect our small business from fraud and minimize losses:
- We reserve the right to reject excessive or suspicious return requests
- We may require photographic proof of damage before approving a return
- We are not liable for damage caused by misuse, improper care, or third-party handling once the item is in your possession
- Refunds are subject to review, and abuse of the return policy will result in denied service
