What began in 2013 as a modest backyard hobby in Clinton, Maryland, has grown into an official urban farm when we registered our land as a USDA farm plot in 2023; deepening our commitment to grow thoughtfully, tread lightly and honor the ecosystems around us.

40 Day Living is more than an urban farm and plant nursery, it’s a living classroom, rooted in the belief that the choices we make today shape the environment we leave for tomorrow. From cultivating pollinator-friendly native plants to nurturing locally grown herbs and seedlings, we see each plant as an opportunity to restore biodiversity and inspire change.

Our certified Monarch Waystation stands as a promise: to create safe havens for pollinators and to teach others how to protect these fragile ecosystems. We grow what we can and source what you need through a trusted network of Southern Maryland growers, ensuring that every plant we offer carries purpose and care.

But our story is also about faith, resilience and rebirth. The name 40 Day Living comes from a powerful reminder woven throughout scripture: the number 40 represents a season of transformation. Just as the earth was renewed after 40 days and nights of rain, we believe each seed planted carries the potential to rebuild, restore and renew what’s been lost.
