From Trashy to Centerpiece

I saw this sweet little table sitting by the curb about to be trashed and I was not having that! All it needed was some attention and tender loving care. It really saddens me to see things being thrown away that still have good use. So I decided to take it home and give it another chance at life.

After I sanded it, I thought this table needs some vibrant colors since it was left in a dull state for so long. I chose black because it really knows how to make a statement and since green has become one of my favorite colors to work with lately, I’ll use it as my second color. After that, I simply picked a couple more colors that I thought would blend well in the pour (not become muddy) and also create areas with colorful pops of interest.

I still had some left over paint so I went looking around my yard for scrap wood that I could make something with. It didn’t take me long to find a small, round piece that would be great as a wall hanging over this tiny table. All I had to do was sand it and voilĂ , we now have a two-piece set. I let them both dry for about a week and then sealed them to protect the paint from damaging. I absolutely love how they turned out and I’m so happy at their transformation.

They’re both too cute to hang out under my carport, so I brought them over to decorate my flea market store. A few weekends later, it caught the eye of a very creative and fashionable customer who snatched it up (along with a few more items).

It was a sweet surprise receiving her text a few days later showing my reFABS looking just fabulous in their new home. I love how she broke the set apart and used the table to display some of her eclectic show pieces and hung the wall art in the center to compliment a couple of her matching artwork. She has such great taste and I was honored to see a little bit of me in her lovely space. I’m even more ecstatic at this little table’s journey. It went from something that was about to go in the trash, to something that someone was happy to take home and enjoy. Whew, what a save!
